The São Bento railway tunnel is 755 m long and connects Campanhã and São Bento stations in Porto. The project involves the full rehabilitation and structural strengthening of the tunnel, implementation of a new drainage system, cleaning and repair of surfaces, and improvements to fire-fighting access, lighting, and additional services.

Services included a detailed inspection, diagnostic testing, preliminary design, and detailed design for the tunnel’s rehabilitation and strengthening.

Services

The São Bento railway tunnel is 755 meters long, connecting Campanhã and São Bento stations in Porto. It consists of a single gallery with two tracks, originally excavated in Porto’s granite hillside around 1900. The project involves the complete rehabilitation and structural reinforcement of the tunnel, the implementation of a new drainage system, cleaning and repair of surfaces, and improvements to fire-fighting access, lighting, and additional services.
